YCIS HK decided to transition from IGCSE IT to IGCSE Computer Science in the 2018-19 academic year. They contacted BSD to assist with the transition, curriculum, and teacher training to make this happen. BSD helped design a ~60-hour Coding Elective Course for the Year 9 students as a foundation for the Year 10 Computer Science course, generate interest and create a pipeline/pathway for students for Year 10. In 2018-19, 125 students signed up for the coding elective; from this, 44 students signed up for the Y10 Comp Sci program (the school's target was 25 students). In the successive year, 120+ students have signed up for the program in Y9, and over 40 students have signed up in Y10.
